This pen holder sits at an angle rather than standing straight up, which makes reaching for a pen feel a little less like reaching into a pot. The outer shell is covered in small raised balls, a dimpled texture that brings to mind the head of a 1970s golf club. It has a quiet, tactile presence rather than a shouty one.
Set it on the desk, next to the keyboard or the notepad, and it becomes the spot where pens, pencils and the odd pair of scissors end up living. The angle means the contents tilt towards you, so you are not fishing around for the one pen that always sinks to the bottom.
