This planter comes in two parts: a ribbed pot that sits on top, and a reservoir beneath it that holds water in reserve. Thread natural-fibre wicks through the holes in the base of the pot so they reach down into the tank below, and capillary action carries water up into the soil as the plant needs it. Small drainage holes let any excess drain back into the reservoir, so roots do not sit in wet soil.
It suits a spot where you would rather not think about watering every day, a windowsill, a desk, a balcony table. Fill the reservoir every so often and leave the wicks to do the rest, checking in only when the tank runs low. The ribbed exterior gives it a bit of texture without shouting for attention.
It measures about 16 by 14 centimetres. It is printed to order in our Cyprus studio and shipped worldwide.
